the furnishings series by FIL, features a contrast in between various products, integrating a steel frame with charred cedar, describing the dark color of the burnt meadows. the job was conceived with an objective to gain a much deeper understanding of noyaki, a long tradition working as one of the mainstays of aso’s scenery. the collection expresses the unique aso experience, where people and nature co-exist and press on together in a majestic, yet extreme volcanic environment, in addition to the seeds of life growing from the black world of noyaki.
The clean-cut style with the smoothly planed cedar and elegantly prepared steel frame, urges the observer to touch and feel the pieces. the unique texture developed by charred cedar is offered through a conventional approach of cedar processing which leads to the toughness of furniture. the strategy includes skills and experience in order to bring out cedar’s specified grains perfect. the furnishings line is limited to 25 systems sold annually. the number is based on the 25 oguni cedar saplings which were approved for forest development, throughout the edo duration (1603– 1868).
